Lysine
About this formula
If you get cold sores, you probably already know about lysine. If you don't - now you do.
The short version: herpes simplex (the cold sore virus) needs arginine to replicate. Lysine competes with arginine for uptake, which is why consistently keeping lysine levels high is a well-established approach to reducing outbreak frequency and severity.
This is also useful for anyone who's been dealing with viral reactivation more broadly - shingles, EBV, and other herpetic viruses respond to the same arginine/lysine dynamic.
Beyond viral support, lysine is an essential amino acid involved in collagen synthesis and calcium absorption - so there are reasons to use it even if cold sores aren't your concern.
